IKP: activate – participate – associate

Throughout the presentation year of the International Building Exhibit (IBA) in 2013 the UdN is realizing a long-term community project: a hotel on the premise of the Neighborhood’s University, as a communication center, service point and lodge. The main focus of the seminar “IKP: activate_participate_associate” is the planning and implementation of functioning hotel operations, including all aspects of what a hotel offers: reception, laundromat, kitchen, wellness and entertainment. The goal is to generate all hotel operations from local micro economies, therefore it will be the actors of the culturally diverse environment in Wilhelmsburg who will generate the hotel operations.  How can such a project be done? Which contacts in the local business environment will have to be made in order to nurture an operating model which is professional, profitable for all participants, ensuring that all gains flow exclusively into the Wilhelmsburg community? Who should be activated, and who should be included? How can such an economic model become culturally charged, so that along with new areas of employment for Wilhelmsburg, the intended communication center and art project is generated for the IBA?
